The documentary “The Adventure of Catalunya” describes the professional and personal experience which represents the beginnings of the Restaurante Catalunya in Singapore. We’ll hear the voices of its protagonists, who explain, in first person, the dreams, fears and all of the emotions they have felt over the two years that they have spent travelling; but, above all, we especially hear the voices of the two Catalans who have led the project: the director, Pol Perelló (who spent twelve years as the Head Waiter for elBulli) and the executive chef, Alain Devahive (trained in the kitchens of elBulli and in some of the best restaurants in France).

Co-directior and Executive Producer After receiving a grant from the Ministry of Culture, he studied “the Aesthetics of documentary making and cinematic photography” at the San Antonio International School of Baños-Cuba. Coordinator for the cinematographic information programme “Va de cine” (TVE) in the international festivals of CANNES, BERLIN, SITGES and SAN SEBASTIAN. In 1993 he set up MANUAL. As a TV producer he has directed a host of productions (TV programmes, publicity spots, theatre for TV, TV documentaries, live transmissions, corporate and institutional video). Teacher of different courses for immigrant empowerment through audiovisual media for the MIGRAMEDIA platform. Teacher at the Institute of Further Education of the UPF (Masters in corporate, institutional and company video). He has directed the short film “Hermanos” (“Brothers”) (35mm) which has been a finalist in several international festivals, notably in “Shooting Europe 2006” Co-director and executive producer of the documentary, "La mirada d'un geógraf. Vida i viatges de Gonçal de Reparaz". (“A Geographer’s Gaze. The Life and Travels of Gonzalo de Reparaz”) Director-maker of the programme "Nus" (“Naked”). Co-director and Executive Producer of the documentary "la història d'un teatre lliure",-TV3.

Alfonso Garrido

Co-Director and Director of photography He began his professional life as an assistant to the Information services for TVE (87-88). In 1989 he created the production company, La Productora S.A. directing photography and making various documentaries, notably the 13 episode documentary series “Planeta Sur”. In 1993 he left La Productora S.A. to co-found the production company MANUAL SCCL. Within this foundation he is responsible for the production and creation of reports and documentaries of a social nature (La Realidad de Chiapas, 24 Hours every day: working conditions in the world and 24 hours a day: child labour, Motor Iberica, The 100-day Strike…). In addition, he is responsible for the conception, organisation and production of numerous institutional and corporate events.
