Tófol, the Endless Runner

A journey through the immense figure of Tofol Castanyer, the first Spaniard to win the ultra trail world championship. His origins in athletics and how he became the first of the “hill runners” before “hill running” even existed.

After finishing his university degree and his time as editor and production assistant on several TV channels (Antena 3, Canal Expansión ...) Álvaro directed 4 documentaries in the Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon, in Bosnia and in Latin America receiving several mentions and prizes at various festivals. At the same time and during this stage he collaborated and worked with producer Emilio González Martín on several film and documentary festivals developing different activities for the AVID publishing company (Play Doc, Documenta Madrid, Miradas Doc …) In 2010 he founded the international film festival MareMostra, which he directed during its first four editions. In 2012 he began his work as advertising director with the aim of connecting, seducing and bringing new credibility and personality to brands through film, photography and communication. During these years he has worked for brands and agencies that allowed him to develop his work as a creator with total freedom. Havas, Ogilvy, Proximity, Kitchen, Drop & Vase, Nike, Banco Santander, Nivea, Real Madrid, Flex, Iberostar, Lottusse... He´s currently in the process of preparing and developing his first feature film as a director, “The Mediterranean Boys” That same year (2012) he founded Solworks Films (www.solworks.eu) with his partner Enrique Vidal. Solworks is an international production company based in Mallorca and the Canary Islands. These 12 years have produced numerous advertising campaigns for the best production companies in Europe. On January 2020 opened a fiction department at SOLWORKS FILMS. As far, he has directed TOFOL, THE ENDLESS RUNNER and developing his next sport documentary WIN LOOSING. On the fiction side he is developing his first feature film: THE MEDITERRANEAN BOYS. En la actualidad acaba de terminar la dirección del documental “Tófol, el corredor infinito” para IB3. En sólo tres semanas este documental ya ha sido seleccionado para la sección oficial de 5 FesWvales internacionales. Torelló Mountain Film FesWval, Bcn Sports Film FesWval, Trento Film FesWval, BBK Bilbao Mendi InternaWonal Film FesWval, Inka Fest y FesWval Zoom Igualada. En la actualidad se encuentra en la postprodución de tres cortometrajes (“United Mafia”, “Woman Human” y “Nacida en el Mediterráneo”) calificados para el ICAA. Uno como director y otros dos como productor ejecuWvo.
