Helene Zhuge
Jamyang Lodro Rinpoche, the 47th inheritor of the Tibetan Buddhism Jonang sect, founded an intangible cultural heritage institute in a remote poor Tibetan settlement in China. Teaching Thangka painting and other traditional Tibetan culture for free, the school breathed new life into this community.
Ms. Helene Zhuge (born Nov 09, 1961) is an award-winning producer and director of documentaries, as well as a veteran media expert. Her filmography includes feature documentary MAIZIDIAN(2020), short documentaries The Road to Learning(2023), and Seven Days in Bailin Temple(2018). MAIZIDIAN has won 14 international awards, including Best Documentary Awards from Accolade Global Film Competition(Award of Excellence), London Independent Film Festival, and 25 selections including Lift-Off Sessions and Nice Independent Film Festival etc. Maizidian has also been released globally on major vod platforms Tubi tv, Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, Vudu, Fandor, Docurama, etc. In 2018, Seven Days in Bailin Temple won the Best Documentary Award at the Los Angeles Cinema Festival of Hollywood and later got released globally as well. Helene Zhuge brought independent tv productions to China in the 1990s and produced over 800 TV program episodes broadcast by China's CCTV, Beijing TV, Shanghai TV etc. Among several prime time TV weekly shows Helene has produced, a half hour TV docuseries "Behind the Scenes”introduced the International Film Festival circuit to Chinese audiences for the first time, an iconic television program which ran for over a decade from the mid 90’s.
