The Nabbing

The Nabbing

Miguel y José Luis Jiménez
On Christmas Eve, a peasant family embarks into a surprising revelation about the absence of a dear loved one and the unsettling presence of spooks in the countryside.
Brothers Miguel and José Luis Jiménez started a career in arts since a young age. Lured by an innocent affection towards action figures, comic books and animated films, they became involved with multidisciplinary crafts like building universes, painting characters, writing screenplays and playing the tunes of their minds creations. After finishing their design studies and some years of professional agency work, they got their first break with the video clip “No Looks, No Charm, Just Big Mighty Bucks”, an independent, shocking and bizarre animation about the glorification of narcoculture in the Colombian media. Upon going nation wide and honing various award nominations and wins, clients and companies started to approach them for their genuine blend of storytelling, graphic style and audiovisual pacing. With a larger roster of productions under their belt, they teamed up with childhood friend, Andrés Cruz Barrera, and set their sights on a transmedia project inspired by true events; the graphic novel “Los Once”, a fictionalized retelling of the Palace of Justice Siege. They achieved critical acclaim and global exposure with this content and set a signature in the creation of Colombian intellectual property where entertainment values merge with social awareness in a neat and tight package. Their current project, the animated short film “The Nabbing”, is the same formula that has built them an audience, but in a presentation meant to gather the whole family and strike a beacon of hope towards the Colombian armed conflict, a sensitive subject that has had the country on the map for as long as they can remember. Honored of having nurtured a partnership with producer Carlos Smith from HIERROanimación, this is the brothers´ latest venture into the moving pictures and definitely not the last.
