The Exile of María Teresa (Project)

This story examines how hundreds of women in El Salvador and four other countries end up getting imprisoned following an abortion. Maria Teresa managed to escape this nightmare; after nearly a decade of social and legal persecution, she fled to Sweden to become the first woman ever to get international protection for this reason.

Journalist with over 15 years of experience in different media in Latin America and Spain. She has directed documentaries, short films and communication campaigns in America, Asia and Africa. She holds a degree in journalism from the Universidad Bicentenaria de Aragua (Venezuela), with specializations from the University of Barcelona (Spain), Columbia University in New York (USA) and the University of Kalmar (Sweden). She co-authored the books of journalism chronicles: “Pequeñas batallas, grandes historias” and “Periodismo y Democracia”. She is currently an international correspondent and consultant for communication campaigns. Director of PeMÓN Films.
