Rosario Jiménez Gili (1978) is a spanish filmmaker raised in Chile. She belongs to a middle-class family, attended elementary school in Chile and the US. She is part of a family with a strong social and intellectual devotion. For junior high she settled for a couple years (1996-1998) in Rome where she studied History of Art and got immersed in Italian culture by learning about Italian cinema from the 40s and 60s. Then Rosario studied at the Pontificia Universidad Católica, where she got her Bachelor in Fine Arts degree (1998-2003). When discovering her devotion for cinema rather than non-narrative audiovisual she takes an editing course at EICTV (Cuba, 2006) and a filmmaking workshop at the NYFA (United States, 2007). She worked until 2010 as an assistant to editor Soledad Salfate (2017 Oscar Winner “a fantastic woman”). Rosario founded LAS MINAS SmartMedia company in 2010 focusing on both fiction and documentaries, with an emphasis on science communication to broad audiences. Rosario made features, web series and TV series distributed mainly in Asia; awarded in Italy, Argentina, Spain, Cuba and Chile. Rosario is mother of 2 boys and lives with her husband in Jujuy, northern Argentina, where close contact with nature boosted her creativity and climate consciousness, leading her to start a career as a singer-songwriter.
