Salt Moon

Gala (15) has spent her entire childhood with Luna (15), her best friend, who has a small degree of autism. They have always trained in the same athletics team, but this year, for the first time, they are separated from the group. Gala will be forced out of her comfort zone to become part of a group of girls older than her, who seem to spark new interests. It is from this moment when Gala, immersed in a sea of doubts, will begin to struggle between these two very distant worlds: her best friend and her new companions.

Born in Barcelona in February 2001, Mariona Martínez Pijoan discovered her passion for audiovisual storytelling during her teenage years, taking part in projects with her friends. She graduated from ESCAC (Escola Superior de Cinema i Audiovisuals de Catalunya), where she completed her studies with Lluna de Sal, a socially themed short film deeply connected to her childhood and family environment. The short premiered at the 69th edition of SEMINCI in 2024, where it was awarded the Silver Spike for Best International Short Film. She recently completed her Master’s in Directing at ESCAC and is currently in post-production on her new short film. At the same time, she has begun developing the script for her debut feature film at the Script Residency of the Catalan Film Academy.
