Daniela Cortés (Dominican Republic, 1999) is a filmmaker and creator who explores cinema and theater with a deeply personal sensitivity. At just 18, she decided to move to Barcelona, pursuing her passion for filmmaking. Awarded a full scholarship to the School of Cinema and Audiovisuals of Catalonia (ESCAC), she earned a degree in film and later completed a master’s in film production. Her master’s final project, Mi niña (short film, 2025), marked her directorial debut, allowing her to explore intimate and challenging themes, particularly those surrounding childhood. Daniela’s storytelling blends the boundaries between fiction and documentary, capturing moments with an introspective and poetic lens.Her work primarily focuses on themes of childhood and cultural roots, reflecting a sensitivity that is both honest and profound. Currently, Daniela is developing her debut feature film, set and filmed in the Dominican Republic.
