


Men’s Cooking
Silvia Subirós i Mercader
With archive material, the director starts from her family history (famous chefs who marked the Spanish culinary tradition) to elaborate an alternative story about the history of cooking and the anonymity of women.
Sílvia Subirós graduated in Script and Film Direction and in Creative Documentary (ECIB). With her first short film, "La Edad del Sol", she won the award for Best Short Film at the Alcances de Cádiz Festival and for Best Director at the Sitges Festival (2010). It was also selected at festivals such as DocumentaMadrid. She co-directed the short film "FILMA", which premiered at L' Alternativa. “The Festival of Lies” was her first feature film, with which she won the Docs in Progress Award at Visions du Réel (2015).
In 2021 she premieres her latest short film, "Can Gardell", which has been in Zinebi (Bilbao), in Message to Man (Saint Petersbug), and in IndieLisboa. At Festival de Málaga she premiered her second documentary feature film, "La cuina dels homes" (2022), which was also presented at DocsBarcelona.
