Letters from a distance

Juan Carlos Rulfo
The COVID-19 pandemic changed the dynamics of communication, transportation, work and interaction of societies in Mexico and the world, but for the patients hospitalized by the virus, all possibilities of contact with their own were closed.
Director, cinematographer, producer, editor Juan Carlos Rulfo is one of the most important filmmakers in contemporary Mexico and his work is based on the exploration of personal roots and a tribute to the dignity and will of man in spite of adversity. In his projects he explores, together with the viewer, everyday life and that, by the same token, are universal. With his documentary filmmaking, he creates a format that allows for the rediscovery of both cinematographic language and forms of narration, where experimentation and thematic exploration is increasingly free.
