Celsa covers her skin with roots and leaves from her garden. She feels the torture endured 45 years ago in a concentration camp in Paraguay.
Sofia Paoli Thorne was born in Peru in 1982, she had to move to Paraguay with her whole family in 1989 escaping the armed conflicts between the military and the rebels groups. There she became a director, a producer in IPAC with a postgraduate degree in business administration from Universidad Pacifico. She also became a mother, a teacher and founded Tekoha Audiovisual where she made different audiovisual pieces for television, documentary films and NGOs videos. She was the director of the Tv Show “Tembi’u rape” awarded for it’s innovation in the TAL awards. She is the producer of “La afinación del diablo” (The Devil’s Tuning) winner of Ibermedias DocTv Latinoamerica VI, and participated in IDFA (Amsterdam, Netherlands), Fidba (Buenos Aires, Argentina) and FESTLATINOSP (San Pablo, Brazil). And also the producer of “Fuera de campo” (Out of field) directed by Hugo Gimenez, winner of DocTv and premiered in the international film festival of Guadalajara (Mexico). She is also a teacher for different NGOs and foundations like “Itauá digital”, that aims to close the audiovisual gaps between the teens in major cities and those living in the underdeveloped countryside. “Guapo’y”, on the scars left by the military dictatorship, her first documentary film as a director, was awarded a special mention in the “Best first film category” in IDFA.
