Gold Lust

Gold Lust

Ibai Abad
In the late nineteenth century, Cileta and her family fall prey to Oleguer, a petty usurer, who, stripping them of their land, takes mastery over their lives. When he leaves the farm to marry the widow of a wealthy ex-notary, Cileta ponders her next steps – to infiltrate their house and apply the lesson learned: money above all else.
After graduating from ESCAC, he directed the internationally awarded short films Historia de un entierro and Tahití. In 2012 he founded Mayo Films, with which he has produced his two feature films and directed advertising, video clips and video art. In 2015, following the MEDIA Europe programme, he was invited to take part in the new Official Master's Degree at ESCAC. As a result, in 2016 he directed the feature film The Girl from the Song. When it was released worldwide on Netflix in 2017, it was one of the five most watched films. Following this, he began the development of the feature films l'Escanyapobres, a western shot with funding from TV3, ICEEC and APUNT; and Calypso, selected at the Script Station in Berlin and winner of the PROA development award
