Do the death speak to us?
Helena de Llanos
From the memory of the performers and artists Fernando Fernán Gómez and Emma Cohen, this short documentary poetically explores the relationships the living maintain with those no longer here.
Her audiovisual work oscillates between documentary and fiction. She has made films that address diverse themes and characters: from the former president of Bolivia Evo Morales and his rise to power from a gender perspective, to a group of esparto grass workers in an old factory in southern Spain. She has always been interested in mixing cinema with art, citizen participation in cultural creation, and memory; from 2011 to 2016 she was part of the Cine sin Autor (www.cinesi-nautor.es) collective. With Trip to Somewhere, she rearticles the previous learning and I leap into a territory inhabited by other ways of telling in images, influenced by the personality and the works of Fernán Gómez and Emma Cohen.
Her film works are located in the context of the cultural and artistic industries, entering into dialogue with other disciplines and concerns of a socio-political nature. Mostly all of her work is self-produced, opting for Creative Commons licenses and, in general, for alternative communication contexts.
