Comala, Comala

A trip to the south of Spain searching the ruins of Comala, a small village that shares its name with a fictional town, that was invented by the Mexican writer Juan Rulfo in his novel "Pedro Páramo". This short film is a journey between two towns, one fictional and another real.  The director takes the voice of the novel and he goes to the landscape of his family to think about belonging, myth and memory. Like in the twin cities described by Italo Calvino, Ruvira offers a game between the local legend and history, literature and life, the voices of the present and the echoes of the past...

Director Barcelona- and Paris-based filmmaker who explores the line between fiction and documentary. Graduate in Audiovisual Communication by the University of Valencia and the UPF of Barcelona. After several short films, he made the feature film Orson West. He produced the group film Ferida arrel: Maria Mercè Marçal composed of short films from filmmakers such as Neus Ballús, Eva Serrats, Laia Manresa, Alba Sotorra… He is formed in the field of research in the PhD Film from the UPF (Barcelona) and he has worked as a teacher at various seminars about filmmakers like Johan van der Keuken, Joaquin Jordá, Roberto Rossellini... He has also participated in research group CRIMIC (Paris-Sorbonne University), which investigates the relationship between visual arts and literature.
